Skinit.com Photosharing API Project

Skinit, Inc. is the industry leader in consumer personalization for electronic devices. Their online ordering and customization tools allow users to make their cell phone, MP3 player, laptop, PDA device, camera, or gaming device as unique as they are. They had thousands upon thousands of stock options for customizing devices, but they were missing the capability to add custom images and patterns to skins.

Skinit approached Zygii with a challenge: create an API "wrapper" that would interface with a large group of third-party photosharing sites' individual API's, and transform the output from those API's into the format that the existing Skinit.com Customizer API was expecting.

Zygii stepped in and got to work, creating a common data transformation system for Skinit that allows Skinit's users to seamlessly select photos from a variety of photosharing sites, including Flickr, Photobucket, Smugmug, and many more. These photos can be applied to custom skins directly in the Skinit Customizer application, without any need for the user to know anything more than their own username and password for their photosharing site account(s).

The API is developed in a modular fashion, allowing additional photosharing options to be added with ease as more and more become available.
